Italian midfielder heads to Spain

Sevilla have completed the signing of Tiberio Guarente from recently-relegated Atalanta. The 24-year-old suffered the pain of slipping out of Serie A last season, but can now console himself in the knowledge that he will once again be playing top flight football next term. A number of assured displays in a struggling side during the course of the 2009/10 campaign have ensured that he has been quickly snapped up. The former Italy U20 international leaves Atalanta after three years of loyal service, having joined the club from Hellas Verona in 2007. He has made almost 100 Serie A appearances during his career and is highly regarded in his homeland.

Distribution

Guarente is not renowned for his goalscoring prowess, but has excellent distribution and is not afraid to get stuck in. Sevilla are delighted to have landed his signature and hope he will prove to be a shrewd acquisition. "Tiberio Guarente is now officially a Sevilla player," read a statement on the club's official website. "The young Italian midfielder has signed a five-year contract, which includes a buyout clause of 30million euros (£25m)."
