Black youngsters from AC Milan U10 team racially abused

San Siro

Black players from AC Milan's Under-10 team were allegedly racially abused during Sunday's 4-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Universal Cup.

The prestigious youth tournament  - an annual event involving 48 clubs from around the world - is taking place in Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany.

It is not clear if the supporters involved in the abuse were Milan or PSG fans.

In a statement Milan said: “We can confirm the alleged episodes of racism towards the black children by several ‘people’ in the stands during Milan v PSG yesterday.

“We do not want to amplify or exaggerate anything, but we very much hope that this is not true and that it was just something isolated. If that isn’t the case then it would be absolutely unacceptable.”

There have been several high-profile incidents of racism in Italian football, notably when then Milan player Kevin-Prince Boateng led his team-mates off the field to protest racial abuse by opposing fans during an exhibition match in January. 2013.
