Roma's Jeremy Menez edged closer to a move to PSG after he was allowed to speak to the French club.

Roma are finding it hard to retain their players ahead of new term

Roma's Jeremy Menez edged closer to a move to Paris Saint Germain after he was given permission to speak to them about a deal. The Ligue 1 outfit have reportedly offered €8million for the forward, who was out of favour with former coach Vincenzo Montella. New boss Luis Enrique is wasting no time in stamping his authority over the squad after completing a deal for Barcelona youngster Bojan Krkic. His arrival seems to all but confirm Menez's departure and Roma director Walter Sabatini admitted they had reluctantly given the player permission to speak to PSG.

Painful

"The sale of Menez is a painful choice, even if it is not yet official," he told Italian media. "I gave him permission to leave the training camp and to go and meet with PSG. I'm sorry that I will no longer be able to work with him." Sabatini also confirmed that sought-after striker Mirko Vucinic could also be set to leave the Italian capital. English Premier League club Tottenham are set to turn their attentions on him after attempts to snare Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City stalled.
Sorry
"It is very likely that he too will leave the club, which is something, again, I am very sorry about," he added. However, there was some positive news for Roma fans, who were told that midfielder Daniele De Rossi would be staying with the club and that they would be doing everything in their power to keep him. Sabatini continued: "He has never been put on the market. There are on-going negotiations with him for the renewal of the contract. "He is not on the market and the club will do everything to keep him."
