Urby Emanuelson has high expectations for Ajax going into the second half of the Eredivisie season.
The versatile 24-year-old, who can play on the left wing or at left-back, has helped the Amsterdam club to fourth place in the table in the opening months of the campaign.
And with new coach Frank de Boer at the helm following his appointment this week, Emanuelson is feeling confident coming back after the winter break.
"We have sealed last year," Emanuelson told the club's official website. "We must continue that form into the New Year.
"The expectations are high. You read and hear much that we will be champions.
"It is therefore up to us to perform, so we can live up to that in May."
Emanuelson feels the appointment of De Boer, who succeeds Martin Jol at the helm of the Dutch outfit, will strengthen the club's title bid this season.
He added: "This is good for the group. I also think it is the right choice. I hope success will finally come back to Ajax."
