France international reported to be set for Spanish switch

Adil Rami looks certain to leave Lille at the end of the season, with Valencia his likely destination. The defender's future has been the subject of intense speculation for some time, with a number of clubs having monitored his progress over recent years. Lille have always been able to fend off those advances, but their resistance appears to have finally been broken. They gave their word to the France international that he would be allowed to leave should a suitable offer be received, and such a bid has now been lodged. It is believed that Spanish giants Valencia are prepared to part with around €6million (£5.1m) in order to land the 25-year-old centre-half.

Agreement

They will, however, have to wait until the summer to get their man, with Lille adamant that Rami will see out the season in Ligue 1. Vice-general manager Frederic Pacquet has stopped short of confirming that a deal with Valencia has been done, but admits Rami is edging towards the exits. "Adil had an agreement with us that he could leave and we are loyal to our commitments," he told L'Equipe. "There are talks and we will see how they finish. "One thing is for sure though, Adil will remain with us for the remainder of the season."
