His charges sit second from bottom in the Ligue 1 standings at present, but only goal difference is keeping them inside the drop zone.

A recent five-match unbeaten run aided Lens' cause considerably, allowing them to close the gap on those directly above them.

Their next fixture takes them to high-flying Brest in midweek, offering an immediate opportunity to make amends for Saturday's disappointing showing in a 3-1 defeat against Lyon.

Wallemme insists he is not concerning himself with Lens' standing heading that game, with a double-header which includes a home date with Auxerre on Saturday currently dominating his thoughts.

Preparations

"I don't worry about the table as that can change quickly," he said.

"I'm more interested in preparing well for a week in which we'll also play host to Auxerre.

"After the Brest game, I'll start looking ahead to the Auxerre match.

"I'll see where my players are at physically. I'll probably have a chat with some of them to see if they feel up to playing both games. Of course, my choices will be also influenced by what happens in Brest."
