Netherlands striker departs San Siro for Bundesliga club

Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has completed a £10.5million switch from AC Milan to Schalke. The 27-year-old, who had been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, has opted to ply his trade in Germany with last season's Bundesliga runners-up. "Negotiations were tougher than expected. I am happy to have Klaas-Jan. He will help us," Schalke coach Felix Magath told the Bild newspaper on Tuesday. Huntelaar arrived at the San Siro from Real Madrid last year but failed to pin down a regular first-team spot in his debut campaign with the Italian giants. The Holland international, nicknamed 'The Hunter', began his senior career at PSV Eindhoven and has also spent three seasons with Dutch giants Ajax. The forward, who will be reunited with former Bernabeu team-mate Raul on his arrival at Schalke, admitted late on Monday that the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the San Siro had pushed him towards the exit door. Huntelaar told his official website: "It is true I never wanted to leave Milan but that changed when Zlatan Ibrahimovic came from Barcelona."
