Milan rebuffed in Frey bid

Sebastien Frey is set to sign a new deal at Fiorentina despite attracting interest from AC Milan. The Frenchman's future has been the subject of speculation for some time with a number of clubs expressing an interest in his services. Frey has snubbed the offers saying he is happy to remain at the Viola. "There are no offers worthy of Fiorentina and its project," said Frey. "They [Fiorentina] gave me a lot, we have always worked hard for years to obtain this place in the Champions League and so I thought it was ridiculous if I left.

Renewal

"I will renew my contract following the Barcelona game, as the contract is ready. It was easier than I thought to reach an agreement. "They made me understand that they are a great club and I will try to thank them with my performances. "I gave an important signal to this club, as I never thought of leaving. There were opportunities, but the Viola project is very important." Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed the club were priced out of a move for Frey. The Rossoneri made a bid for the Frenchman, but Fiorentina's asking price for the keeper has put them off. "We've made an offer for Frey," noted Galliani. "But the response was such a high figure that we got priced out."
