Milan midfielder Rui Costa was thrilled to be back in the team and appears hungry for more regular involvement in first-team football.

He was just one of the many unfamiliar faces at San Siro in Milan's 3-0 victory over bottom club Atalanta.

"When you don't play frequently you become very keen on the pitch," said Milan midfielder Rui Costa.

"I work hard to do my best for me and the team.

"When the coach considers my function in the team I try and do my job well.

"Congratulations to Atalanta because they played a good match and they had a few opportunities to score.

"Surely a team like them deserve to get some good results."

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was largely positive about the result: "We played a normal first half in the sense that we played without speed.

"We had a few opportunities but we also put ourselves in danger.

"But we played a lot better in the second half and I have to say that we played a good match.

"The positive thing is that we obtained three points and we didn't concede a goal.

"Also, the players who don't play regularly showed that they are ready which is important for the next few matches."
