MILAN coach Carlo Ancelotti is confident his side can get their season back on track by beating Ajax in their Champions League quarter final on Wednesday after their shock defeat to Empoli last weekend.

The defeat to Empoli all but ended their Scudetto hopes, but Ancelotti is backing his side to bounce back against Ajax.

"The game tomorrow (Wednesday) evening is of vital importance to our season but I'm confident that we can get the result that we need," said Ancelotti.

"We need to play with patience and look to control the game from the very start. I want an organised yet aggressive side. I'm hopeful we can reach the last four."

Milan have selection problems ahead of the clash with Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf injured and Rino Gattuso suspended while Paolo Maldini and Serginho are both doubtful.

Ancelotti is not worried about the injury problems and is confident of getting a result whatever side he plays.

"We have many important players missing such as Pirlo, Gattuso and Seedorf but I'm confident that I can field a competitive midfield," added Ancelotti.

"As for Serginho and Paolo Maldini, we will have to wait and see whether they are in good enough shape to play."
