FULHAM'S boosted Italian profile has led to the club being linked with three more Serie A stars.

The arrival of legendary Italian defender Franco Baresi as director of football, has had the desired effect of extending the club's stature in the European game.

Indeed, the London side have become the latest English club to be put forward as a possible destination for several of the country's players.

The current crop of speculation suggests that midfielder Demetrio Albertini of Milan, Fiorentina striker Enrico Chiesa and relegated Venezia's star-man Filippo Maniero could all arrive in London.

30-year-old Albertini has been linked in the past, and, after the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup through injury, will be taking the time to look carefully at his plans for the future.

Maniero looks certain to desert relegated Venezia, and is another player who has looked at English option in the past, but it is Chiesa who will most excite the Fulham fans.

Fiorentina need to sell their best players, after being plunged into administration, and although Chiesa has already ruled out a move to Turkey - The Premiership is a lucrative option for a player approaching the end of his career.

At 31, Chiesa has suffered a torrid season, although his early form led to his call-up to the Italian side after a lengthy period in international limbo.

However, before he had even joined up with the Azzurri, Chiesa suffered knee ligament damage that ended his season and put a large nail in Fiorentina's relegation coffin.

Former Parma man Chiesa is sure to leave La Viola, and it may be the case that a final few years in England will appeal.
