Germany international suffers thigh injury
Miroslav Klose is unlikely to make another appearance for Lazio this season after picking up a muscle injury which has ruled him out for up to four weeks.
The striker suffered the knock to his left thigh during a mid-week training session in preparation for the Biancazzurri's clash against Napoli at the Stadio Olympico.
Klose immediately flew to Munich for treatment by Germany team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt and the Serie A club confirmed the extent of the injury on Friday.
The news comes as a bitter blow for head coach Edy Reja with the club sitting just three points clear of their opponents in third position, heading into Saturday night's showdown.
"I don't know if I will be able to recover before the end of the season to be back playing for Lazio," Klose told Bild.
"The recovery has started positively though and I'm sure that I'll be at peak condition ahead of the European Championships (with Germany)."
Klose has 63 goals in 114 appearances for Germany, five behind the all-time record set by Gerd Mueller in the 1960s and 70s.
