Lazio have been dealt a major blow with the news that striker Miroslav Klose is set to be sidelined for around a month after suffering a thigh injury.
The Germany international picked up the problem in training and flew back to Munich on Thursday evening for treatment by national team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt.
The extent of the damage has now been confirmed and Lazio expect Klose to be out of action for approximately four weeks.
He will therefore miss a number of key games in the Serie A run-in as Lazio look to hold on to third place and secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
Klose should be back for the final few weeks of the season and is then set to travel out to Poland and Ukraine for Euro 2012.
The 33-year-old has 63 goals in 114 appearances for Germany, five behind the all-time record set by Gerd Muller in the 1960s and 70s.
