Dijon eye Kakuta loan

Chelsea forward lined up for possible loan spell in France

Dijon coach Patrice Carteron is hopeful of securing a loan deal for Chelsea's Gael Kakuta in January after revealing a verbal agreement has been reached with the player. Kakuta is currently on loan at Bolton but is scheduled to return to Stamford Bridge at the start of 2012. Having had limited opportunities to impress with Bolton, it is unlikely that Andre Villas-Boas will think he is ready to play a key role for the Blues during the second half of the campaign. Villas-Boas may therefore decide to send Kakuta out on loan again to get more first-team experience, and Dijon are ready to take him to increase their attacking options.

Rough diamond

Dijon are currently 16th in the French top flight and Carteron has identified Kakuta as somebody who could fire them up the table. "We have a verbal agreement with the player but nothing has been officially signed," Carteron was quoted as saying in the Dijon daily Le Bien Public. "My idea is not to sign players for the sake of it. We want to strengthen the squad, not just replace players. "Gael Kakuta is a rough diamond, someone who can bring us something extra."
