Werder Bremen will consider selling Hugo Almeida in the winter transfer window after reaching a stalemate in contract negotiations with the star striker.
Besiktas and Lazio have both been linked with the Portugal international ahead of the summer 2011 conclusion of his current terms at Weserstadion.
Bremen have been holding discussions with Almeida, who has scored nine Bundesliga goals this season, in a bid to reach an agreement over a new deal.
But general manager Klaus Allofs now accepts the club cannot meet the 26-year-old's wage demands to mean he could be sold to avoid the risk of a Bosman exit next July.
Allofs told Kreiszeitung Syke newspaper: "I am convinced we are not going to find a solution on a new contract with Hugo Almeida.
"We are far off an agreement. We are not going to hand him the sums he wants to earn, this is impossible."
Allofs added: "Besiktas are monitoring the situation of Hugo Almeida, they have started an enquiry.
"We need figures and data on the table, then we will consider it. I am free to discuss this."
