ANDERSSON PLEASED WITH VIOLA SWITCH

FIORENTINA swooped to sign Bari midfielder Daniel Andersson on Friday in a move that left the Swedish star delighted.

Andersson, a Swedish international, signed a four-year deal with Fiore and was pleased at signing such an historic side.

"Fiorentina is a big club, one of seven sisters in Italian football. It feels nice that the transfer has gone through," said Andersson on Swedish Radio.

"You can never be guaranteed to play, but I assume that Fiorentina have bought me to play," he added.

Indeed it was a busy day for Fiorentina on Friday as they also completed the signing of Dejan Stankovic from Lazio.

The deal for Andersson worked out at about £4 million and his agent, Roger Ljung believes this is good business for the Florence-based club.

Ljung told DN: "Daniel is established in Italy and then the transfer fee is on this level."

Having met coach Roberto Mancini on Friday, Andersson was ecstatic, saying: "The absolutely best that could happen to me.

"In Fiorentina you go for titles. Florence is the most beautiful city in Italy. I am very pleased."
