LAZIO will be without two more key players for the rest of the season.

New find Lucas Castroman and goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani are both expected to have had their seasons brought to a premature end, with the former suffering from a knee problem and the latter injured in an unfortunate training ground clash with team-mate Paulo Negro.

Medical staff at the club confirmed that the duo would join Roberto Baronio on the sidelines until the next campaign.

Fiorentina are keen to sign Marchegiani after missing out on Sampdoria's Matteo Sereni - with the two clubs unable to find an agreement.

Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi has issued a come and get me plea to Roberto Mancini at Fiorentina, stating: "I want to stay in Italy but I must be playing first team football."

Paulo Negro's statement that he is leaving the club has been met with surprise by the Lazio coach Dino Zoff.

"He is a very good defender," said Zoff. "Negro is an integral part of our squad, why should we sell him?"
