Daniele De Rossi: Roma optimistic midfielder will sign a new contract

Roma general manager Franco Baldini remains optimistic star midfielder Daniele De Rossi will sign an extended contract.

The Italy international's contract expires at the end of the Serie A season meaning he could leave the club on a free transfer.

Manchester clubs City and United have been linked with the 28-year-old, but, as yet, the talent is yet to decide his future.

Regardless of the speculation elsewhere, the Giallorossi still believe he will stay with them.

Optimistic

"Negotiations for the renewal of De Rossi are open," commented Baldini.

"It's true that he is now free to sign for anyone.

"But I'm optimistic that he can sign the renewal deal with us."
