Roma defender Christian Panucci says the Italian side are aiming to end Chelsea's long unbeaten home record when they meet in their UEFA Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge.
Former Chelsea man Panucci knows the Giallorossi face a tough task to come away from West London with all three points due to the Blues' formidable home form.
Panucci knows it is important to gain a positive result against Chelsea if they are to progress to the knockout stages and admits a victory at Stamford Bridge would be 'sensational.'
"After the bad match against Cluj we have recuperated and now arrives an important moment in London," Panucci told
skysports.com. "Morale-wise it will be sensational to have a success in Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea are nearly impossible to beat in their stadium, but a failure can arrive at any time and Roma wish to break this record.
No excuses
"Chelsea suffer absences with injuries, but these are not an excuse for the match. They have an excellent squad and it is always very complicated to win against them. We also have problems with injuries.
"Chelsea are not only dangerous in attack. It is necessary to control men like Lampard or Joe Cole to prevent them getting the ball in our area.
"One point would be positive for us in London, but we go to England without fear and with an objective to win."
Despite their opening matchday loss to Cluj, Panucci is confident Roma can join Chelsea in the next phase of the competition.
"The group is open but I believe that Chelsea and us will make the next round," added Panucci. "Cluj will feel the pressure in the key matches."
Roma have bad memories from their recent visits to England after losing 7-1 to Manchester United two seasons ago and Panucci admits the defeat was the worst moment in his illustrious career.
"I still remember the seven goals we conceded at Old Trafford in the Champions League," noted Panucci.
"That was a nightmare. The worst moment in my professional career, but that is history and now we are concentrated on Chelsea."
