Italian federation vice-commissioner Gigi Riva has moved to clarify Francesco Totti's role with the national side.
There had been speculation surrounding the international future of the Roma star as he said after the World Cup final win over France that he may limit his involvement with the Azzurri.
Totti has not featured for Italy since the summer, but he recently held talks with coach Roberto Donadoni and Riva expects him to return once he is free from injury.
"Francesco has an agreement with Donadoni," Riva told Radio Kiss Kiss. "They met about two months ago.
"Both agreed that Totti will play with the national team when he has the metal pieces taken from his ankle and, most importantly, when Donadoni considers it timely."
