Italian national team coach Marcello Lippi will not make any decision regarding his World Cup squad until he sees how Francesco Totti's recovery is going.
The Roma captain has already begun his long recovery from the broken ankle suffered in February and Lippi believes he could be able to complete the whole campaign in Germany.
Lippi was at Middlesbrough's Uefa Cup match with Roma on Wednesday night and revealed he had a chat with the playmaker.
"I greeted him and told him I would wait for him," said Lippi.
The Azzurri coach is also thought to be hoping that Fifa will put back the deadline for the announcement of the World Cup squads in order to give Totti the best chance of making June's tournament.
