Perrotta excited to return

Simone Perrotta is can't wait to represent Italy for the first time since 2004.

Simone Perrotta is looking forward to representing Italy again for the first time since October 2004.

Perrotta believes that his positive attitude towards the game has earned him the call-up, having been convinced to remain at Roma by manager Luciano Spalletti in the summer.

"I wanted to leave Roma but Spalletti and the club's management convinced me to stay," said Perrotta.

"He set me a challenge and I was happy to take up the challenge."

Having finally made it back into the reckoning, the Roma star believes that he will be a useful asset to Lippi and his staff and is now aiming for a World Cup spot.

"I can offer the Italian coach the experience I have of playing in many different roles," he said.

"I want to continue playing well, especially with Roma, because if I do it will take me to Germany."
