Antonio Cassano's agent has spoken of his shock after Roma decided to halt all contract negotiations.

The forward has been holding out in the hope that the Giallorossi might improve their offer, although it now seems that the capital club are prepared to let Cassano leave.

It had looked as if a deal had been agreed when the two sides agreed in principle on a deal reputedly worth ‚é¼3.2 million but agent Giuseppe Bozzo says that all bets are now off.

"I didn't think the situation had reached that level," he confessed.

"Above all, I don't believe it right to say Roma can no longer 'tolerate' our position, as Antonio has lived through issues that were far more deserving of that term.

"If that's what Roma are saying, then we will adhere to their wishes. The last contact we had with them was on Friday night with director of sport Daniele Prade, but nothing suggested such a drastic termination in the talks.

"Antonio wants to stay at Roma. To prove that, he went to the club headquarters in September and took a large step back in his wage demands, cutting down on the figures originally proposed to him by the Giallorossi in February.

"Antonio is perfectly relaxed and loves playing this sport," he continued. "He is not worried about contracts or the money he is owed, as it's just not part of his character.

"What we need is some common sense from everyone involved, but it'll be difficult seeing as Sensi said she doesn't want to meet with me or my client."
