Antonio Cassano is a serious doubt for Roma's Uefa Cup match with Aris Salonika on Thursday.
Cassano pulled out of Monday's training session with a thigh complaint and will now undergo checks to reveal the extent of the problem.
The loss of the Italian international is a blow to coach Luciano Spalletti who had been expected to start with the striker in place of either Vincenzo Montella or Francesco Totti against the Greeks.
A more positive development for player and club is the expected completion of protracted contract negotiations which seemed to have hit an impasse earlier this summer.
Cassano had seemed on the verge of leaving the Stadio Olimpico, with Chelsea reportedly interested, however the 23-year-old's agent and Roma officials will sit down this week to iron out new terms.
