Romanian defender Cristian Chivu has expressed concerns over Roma's ability to challenge for honours next term.
The capital club have suffered a season of frustration, with their ability to challenge certainly not aided by the managerial upheaval which has taken place this season.
Positive noises have been made by club officials concerning their chances for next season, but former Ajax defender Chivu remains unconvinced.
"I'm not worried for this season, it's over," he said. "Rather, I'm worried for the next one.
"Everything happened this season, the changes on the bench, the match against Dinamo Kiev; the injuries have given us troubles."
Chivu has a further season to run on his contract, but the signs are suggesting he will consider his future in the summer.
"I will give my best for the remainder of the season, then we will see," he said.
"I will give my priority to this club, that is logical, but there needs to be a plan.
"I am not saying this because I want to leave, rather for the good of the club."
Chivu's comments may place a host of Europe's bigger hitters on red alert, as he has proved himself to be one of the most accomplished central defenders in world football in recent seasons.
