Serie A side Siena have threatened to banish Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Taddei to the reserves this season after his insistence on a move to Roma.

Taddei enjoyed an excellent term last time around as the Tuscany outfit comfortably retained their top-flight status.

Taddei's displays caught the eye of Roma and it had seemed that Siena were prepared to cash in on a player whose contract expires at the end of next season.

However, Siena president Paolo De Luca changed his mind and insisted he would only agree to selling 50 percent of the player's rights - an option both Roma and Taddei have dismissed.

The midfielder's agent Alessandro Lucci told skysports.com his client is keen to clinch a move to Stadio Olimpico but will see out the final year of his contract to secure a Bosman free transfer next summer if nothing is finalised.

"The whole situation is in Siena's hands," Lucci declared.

"There are no other possibilities. We are waiting for news from Siena. They would like to sell him at 50 percent, but this is not a good option.

"The player wants to go to Roma, this is known, but if not he has no problems in staying at Siena.

"He's absolutely calm, if he does stay next year he will consider all possibilities."

However, those declarations appear to have infuriated De Luca who claims he is now ready to keep Taddei out in the cold for the entire season.

"The player's agent's declarations have overcome everything," he stated.

"As far as we are concerned, Taddei can stay a year watching the others play because we won't accept such ungrateful behaviour like that he is showing at the current time."
