Marco Delvecchio will miss Italy's Euro 2004 qualifier with Azerbaijan after picking up a thigh injury.

The Roma striker limped out of Friday's training session with the problem and it is feared that he could be out of action for up to a month.

Delvecchio has returned to his club to undergo treatment on the injury and further tests to find out the full extent of the problem.

Meanwhile, Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni insists that his side must beat Azerbaijan at all costs to secure automatic qualification to next year's finals in Portugal.

"We will have everything to lose and anything to earn," said Trapattoni. "That's why we must have to put on the pitch our worries.

"A year ago, after the defeat with Wales I wouldn't have believed to arrive at this point at first place in our group: now we must win at every cost."
