Roma stump up Chivu cash

ROMA president Franco Sensi has insisted that they are set to pay Ajax for the purchase of defender Cristian Chivu.

The Romanian made the move to the Eternal City during the summer, but the deal had looked in jeopardy when the Dutch side were unhappy about the financial guarantees provided by the Italians.

Stadio Olimpico chief Sensi now says that the cash is available to seal the ‚é¼12 million (£8 million) deal for the composed stopper.

Chivu is currently just on a loan basis until Christmas, but this cash will make sure the permanent move is finalised during the winter transfer window.

Chivu even looked like he was on the way back to Amsterdam as a result of the money row but he is now settled in Serie A.
