Serie A: Inter Milan coach wants players to stay grounded after 7-0 victory

Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri urged his players not to get carried away after Sunday's emphatic 7-0 Serie A triumph over Sassuolo.

The Nerazzurri demolished the Emilia-Romagna outfit in their first game at the San Siro this season - their first victory of the campaign, having started with a goalless draw at Torino.

Inter, who have not won the Scudetto since 2010 and finished fifth last term, expect to be title contenders come May.

However, Mazzarri recognised the importance of his men keeping their feet on the ground.

"It's early days," he told the club's official website. "The fans saw a beautiful game against Sassuolo and they know that we are working hard.

"Our aim is to always have the same approach that we saw against Sassuolo.

"We need to be fast and ruthless in attack and play our game.

"The important thing is to give continuity to this result."

Sassuolo's cause was not helped on Sunday when striker Domenico Berardi was shown a straight red card in the 59th minute for an elbow on Juan, compounding a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

Mauro Icardi grabbed a hat-trick for Inter, with Pablo Daniel Osvaldo notching twice and Mateo Kovacic and substitute Fredy Guarin also on target.

"My players were fantastic," Mazzarri added. "They were determined and focused.

"With respect to last season, we know each other well and these players really want to make an impact.

"It's very easy to motivate them."

The Nerazzurri travel to Kiev to face Dnipro in Thursday's Europa League Group F opener before facing Palermo at La Favorita on Sunday.
