Kovacic has been linked with a move away from San Siro this summer and is a reported target of Manchester United.
"Kovacic has five years left in his contract," the player's agent Nikki Vuksan told www.fcinternews.it.
"He is an Inter player and will continue to be until the club wishes otherwise. One has to ask Inter if they want to keep him or not."
The Croatia international joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2013 in a reported 15million euros transfer fee.
Kovacic missed Inter's pre-season through minor injuries but has made 27 league appearances for the Nerazzurri this campaign and earned his ninth start in Sunday's 4-0 triumph at Sampdoria.
"He has a normal relationship with his coach (Walter Mazzarri)," Vuksan said.
"He does what the coach asks him to do.
"He handed a good performance against Sampdoria."
