Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira has joined Brazilian side Sao Paulo on an 18-month loan deal.
The 28-year-old signed for Inter Milan in the summer of 2012 from Porto but has struggled to hold down a first-team place, making only five appearances this season under Walter Mazzarri.
Pereira expressed his delight at joining Sao Paulo and he has stated that he wants to stay at the club for a sustained period of time.
When talking to the club's official website, Pereira said: "It's a pleasure and a big responsibility to play here, it will be a big challenge in my career as I want to keep the success Uruguayans have had here.
"It's a dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, no doubt that it will add a lot to my career. I want to stay here a long time and make the fans happy."
Sao Paulo's vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes added: "We are very happy to make this signing happen."
He then added: "We have big expectations due to his work at his previous clubs and the Uruguayan national team due to the tradition of Uruguayan players at the club and the player's enthusiasm to join Sao Paulo."
