Speculation linking striker with summer move played down

Genoa have dismissed speculation linking Rodrigo Palacio with a move away from the club and revealed he could sign a new deal 'for life'. The 30-year-old striker has reportedly caught the eye of a number of rivals following a series of impressive performances in Serie A. He signed a contract extension last summer to keep him at Genoa until the summer of 2014, having come close to joining Inter Milan. And sporting director Stefano Capozucca is paying no attention to fresh stories suggesting Roma could be plotting a summer swoop. "This is no time to speculate, at this moment we are not focused on this topic," Capozucca told ilSussidiario.net.

Solution

"I am not thinking about the market whatsoever." Pressed further on the future of Palacio, Capozucca stated that discussions had already taken place regarding the possibility of a new long-term deal. He explained: "It is not too far-fetched and to sign Palacio to Genoa 'for life' might be the solution, until the end of his playing days. "It has already been spoken about and the conditions for the choice of the heart are all there."
