Agent believes centre-half is capable of playing for a big club

Palermo defender Matias Silvestre could move at the end of the season according to his agent despite only joining the club last summer. The Argentine is a product of the Boca Juniors academy where he graduated to play first-team football before switching to Italy in 2008. He signed for Catania where he played 118 matches at the heart of the club's defence while scoring seven goals. The 27-year-old left Catania for Palermo last year and the centre-back immediately established a place in the starting line-up. Despite Silvestre making just 23 appearances for Palermo, his agent Fernando Cosentino has admitted there is interest in his client and he believes he is ready to step up to a bigger club.

Interest

"Matias committed to Palermo with a four-year contract, but I think in June he could get the call from some big clubs," he told tuttomercatoweb. "Matias is happy at Palermo , but if an important offer came along, as I believe they will, we all agree that he should join a big club. "AS Roma showed a real interest in Matias in January but Palermo were unwilling to let him go and that was fair enough. "Leaving in January did seem impossible. However, you never know what will happen in June. If an important offer is received and suits both parties then the guy is ready to move to a big club."
