Wesley Sneijder: Optimistic he will be back for weekend clash in Rome

Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder has reassured fans that he will be fit and available for the Serie A clash against Roma this Saturday.

The Dutchman was thought to have suffered a knock in the dramatic 4-4 draw with Palermo on Wednesday night and was replaced by head coach Claudio Ranieri with 20 minutes remaining.

But the 27-year-old, who has suffered an injury-plagued campaign for the Nerazzurri this season, is optimistic that he will be back for the evening encounter at the Stadio Olympico.

Sneijder used his Twitter account to calm concerned fans, writing: "Luckily it's nothing serious, so I hope to be available for the game in Rome. Thanks for all your support."

Inter Milan are currently lying in fifth spot in the league, but a 1-0 defeat at Lecce followed by two more dropped points against Palermo at home mean the club are now eight points behind leaders Juventus.
