Defender says he is 'comfortable' at Porto

Alvaro Pereira insists that he is happy to remain at Porto despite reported interest from Premier League giants Chelsea. The full-back had made his feelings known during the summer transfer window that he was keen to reunite with former boss Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge. Porto are understood to have rejected an offer in the region of £16.6million for the Uruguay international and were seeking something closer to the £26m release clause in the 25-year-old's contract. But now Pereira has made a dramatic U-turn and has committed his future at the Estadio do Dragao after recently signing a contract extension up until 2016. He told Portuguese newspaper Record: "I am very comfortable and happy to remain in Porto. "For me I have to give Chelsea big praise for attempting to sign me during the summer and I have to say that I wasn't frustrated that the deal didn't go through. "Now, it's an extra incentive for me to do well and I will give my maximum effort to Porto day in and day out with the hope of winning many more titles."
