Japanese international defender on Serie A side's radar

Serie A outfit Bologna are believed to be keen on the services of Japan international defender Yuto Nagatomo. Reports from the Far East suggest Bologna's general director Luca Baraldi has held negotiations with the FC Tokyo star's agent with talks at a preliminary stage. "I have had a good talk with Nagatomo's agent, but everything is still very early at this stage," Baraldi was quoted to have said in Sports Hoichi. "We have been keeping tabs on him and based on his performances, he will make a good acquisition for our team. "I think he has the potential to be a very good player in Italy." The 23-year-old star has attracted interest from Europe before, with Celtic having been linked with him in the past after a recommendation from former Japanese player Shunsuke Nakamura. Comfortable anywhere across the back line, Nagatomo has 18 caps for his country, scoring three goals, and can expect to feature for Japan at the World Cup this summer.
