Javier Zanetti was happy with his return to the Argentina fold against France on Wednesday.
Zanetti had not featured for Argentina since missing out on a place at the World Cup finals, but was handed a recall for the France friendly by coach Alfio Basile.
Argentina claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a Javier Saviola goal and Zanetti was happy to have been involved at Stade de France.
"Personally it was a very important match for me because it was my first match after not going to the World Cup last year and you don't have the chance to play against France every day," said the Internazionale star. "Having the chance to pull on the national team jersey again is very important for me.
"I enjoyed the match but now it's over and I have to keep on working, I hope that I can play in the next games that Argentina play.
"In addition, I would like to play in the Copa America."
The manner of the 1-0 win pleased Basile, who noted: "It is an important victory, but there is nothing to celebrate yet as the job has only just begun.
"I think we played well in defence and the midfielders did a good job too because they did not allow France to settle."
