Internazionale and Palermo won again at the top of Serie A as Milan slipped to defeat at Atalanta and Roma beat Fiorentina.

Roberto Mancini's side stretched the only unbeaten record in the division to 10 games after a 2-0 home success over lowly Ascoli.

Javier Zanetti's goal four minutes before half time put Inter ahead and an own goal from Mirko Cudini on 53 minutes settled the issue.

Palermo were also 2-0 home winners after overcoming the threat of Sampdoria, who finished the game with 10 men when Christian Terlizzi was sent off late on.

Prior to that, Eugenio Corini scored on 35 minutes and Christian Zaccardo added a second goal on 70 minutes.

In the evening kick-off, Rodrigo Taddei's double secured a 3-1 home success for Roma over Fiorentina.

The visitors took the lead on 15 minutes through Tomas Ujfalusi, but Roma were level before half time courtesy of Daniele De Rossi.

Taddei struck his first of the night to put Roma ahead on 49 minutes and he wrapped up the points with another goal on 66 minutes.

Milan suffered a third defeat of the season after going down 2-0 at Atalanta, who have moved into the top four.

Nicola Ventola broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half and Andrea Soncin's injury-time goal sealed the points.

Livorno are level on points with Atalanta after edging to a 1-0 home success over Udinese, who had started the day in fifth spot.

Ibrahima Bakayoko's goal on 73 minutes proved the difference, while Udinese had Antonio Di Natale dismissed.

A stormy game between Empoli and Lazio finished 1-1, as three players were sent off in the stalemate.

The goals were provided by Lazio's Goran Pandev on 17 minutes, with Ighli Vanucchi earning Empoli a point two minutes from the end.

Lazio had Sanchez Cribari sent off on 72 minutes, Empoli's Fabrizio Ficini followed two minutes later and the hosts' Mirco Gasparetto was dismissed on 83 minutes just four minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Chievo Verona remain deep in trouble after being held to a 0-0 draw at home by Cagliari.

Torino are still waiting for a second Serie A win of the campaign after coming from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Messina.

Nicolas Cordova put the visitors ahead on 36 minutes, with Roberto Stellone levelling just past the hour. Messina had Marco Zanchi sent off in the final 10 minutes.
