Buffon staying with Juve

Juventus insist Gianluigi Buffon will not be sold during the January transfer window.

Juventus insist goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will not be sold during the January transfer window.

Since the club's enforced relegation to Serie B, Juve have watched several high-profile players leave Stadio Delle Alpi, although many more big names have stayed.

The reopening of the transfer window in the New Year is likely to see Juve fend off further interest in their remaining stars.

Buffon will be on that list, with Milan and Internazionale both reportedly keen to sign the World Cup winner.

Milan are rumoured to be eyeing the shot-stopper as a long-term replacement for the Brazilian keeper Dida.

But Juve president Giovanni Cobolli Gilli is adamant there will be no more departures from Turin in January.

"In January, no one will leave," said Cobolli Gilli.

"This is because we want to immediately come back to Serie A and relaunch ourselves in the football that counts."

Buffon's agent Silvano Martina also refuted the latest rumours, insisting the player is happy to stay with Juventus.

Martina said: "Buffon stays in January 100 percent.

"He accepted Serie B and he wants to do his part to allow Juve to earn a Serie A place.

"Then, at the end of the season, we will see."
