Zlatan makes Swedish apology

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has apologised for breaking a curfew whilst on international duty.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has apologised for breaking a curfew, in an incident that saw him sent home from Sweden's squad.

Sweden were preparing for their forthcoming European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein when Ibrahimovic, along with Olof Mellberg and Christian Wilhelmsson, reported back to the team hotel more than two hours late.

National coach Lars Lagerback sent the trio home and while of the opinion that such punishment was heavy handed, Ibrahimovic accepts that he was in the wrong.

The Internazionale hit-man has issued an apology to the rest of his team-mates and the Swedish Federation, as he looks to make amends for his ill-timed misdemeanour.

"Personally I'm really sorry for the tension and the situation that has been created on the eve of an important match," said Ibrahimovic.

"Anyway, the reaction of the coach seemed to me exaggerated, but I accept his decisions and I apologise for the delay with which I came back to the hotel.

"I apologise also to my team-mates and the Swedish Federation."
