Inter: Toni will be ours

Inter will sign marksman Luca Toni from Fiorentina, according to a Nerazzurri official.

Internazionale will sign marksman Luca Toni from Fiorentina, according to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza's technical director.

Viola director general Pantaleo Corvino has already met with Inter officials once, and told them Serie A's top scorer is untransferable.

But Nerazzurri technical director Gabriele Oriali has stoked the flames by insisting the Italian giants have already made one offer for the Italian forward and will continue until they get their man.

"I can't confirm Corvino's declaration. Me and Marco Branca spoke with him a few days ago. We made an offer," the director told Sky Italia.

"Corvino's request is far from our responsibility. So that's our update. I think it will be a long negotiation, but I'm confident it will be positively closed for Inter.

"With all respect to Fiorentina, who will play in the Champions League next year, it's evident Toni would like to play for a team that could give him more chances to win something."

Toni, who scored 31 goals in Serie A last season, is in Germany with the national side and will need to maintain his focus for their opening World Cup game against Ghana on Monday.
