Serie A round-up

The status quo remains at the top of Serie A as Juventus and Milan both won.

The status quo remains at the top of Serie A as Juventus and Milan both recorded wins on Sunday.

Juve hold a three-point lead at the head of affairs and they fired out a warning to the Rossoneri with an impressive victory at Siena.

Siena were not safe coming into the game, but they were no match for Fabio Capello's men on Sunday.

Juve killed off the game inside ten minutes, as goals from Patrick Vieira, David Trezeguet and Adrian Mutu knocked the stuffing out of the home side.

Milan kept the title race alive with a home win over Livorno. Filippo Inzaghi proved to be the hero with a brace of goals.

A last minute own goal from Marco Materazzi handed Empoli a 1-0 win over Internazionale, but the latter still look favourites to claim third spot as Fiorentina slipped to defeat at Palermo thanks to a solitary effort from David Di Michele.

Roma missed the chance to close in on the Viola after drawing 4-4 at Chievo.

The undoubted game of the day saw Daniele de Rossi fire Roma in front on four minutes, only for Carvalho Amauri to reply almost instantly for Chievo.

De Rossi netted again on 14 minutes and Rodrigo Taddei handed Roma a cushion with a goal on 25 minutes.

Amauri brought the Flying Donkeys back into the contest with a goal before the break and they were level on 49 minutes thanks to Luciano de Oliveira.

The game turned Chievo's way when Sergio Pellissier fired home a penalty on 61 minutes, but Roma went straight up the other end to draw level through Olivier Dacourt.

Lazio cemented their position in sixth with a 1-0 win over Lecce who had Rodney Babu sent off. The only goal of the game came from Tommaso Rocchi on 57 minutes.

Cagliari secured their Serie A status with a 3-1 win over Parma.

The home side produced a spirited display and overwhelmed Parma with goals from Andrea Capone, David Suazo and Mauro Esposito. Bernardo Corradi netted a late consolation for the visitors.

Messina were relegated after slipping to defeat at Reggina. Second half goals from Francesco Cozza, Nicola Amoruso and Rolando Bianchi were the undoing of the strugglers.

Francesco Flachi cancelled out a strike from Antonio Di Natale to ensure Sampdoria took a point from their home clash with Udinese.

Already relegated Treviso drew 2-2 with Ascoli. Pasquale Foggia scored twice for the visitors, but Ferreira Reginaldo and Marco Borriello netted to prove Treviso still have some fight in them.
