Javier Zanetti is confident that he will be playing at a third World Cup for Argentina.

The versatile Internazionale ace is expecting to figure for his country in Germany, having played in France in 1998 and the Far East four years ago.

Though the 32-year-old missed Argentina's friendly against Croatia last month, he feels he will not be overlooked for the World Cup.

Zanetti, who can play in defence or midfield, is not taking his place in Jose Pekerman's squad for granted, but feels it will be a surprise if he is not involved.

"I trust a lot in that I will have the chance to play in my third World Cup," Zanetti told Radio Mitre.

"I still have to wait until the league's end because there are always some surprises, injured players, etc.

"I think that nearly all the media and the people want me to play in the World Cup.

"I also think that Pekerman knows what I can give to the team, but I have to wait until he announces the list.

"I don't have any doubt, but I don't make the decisions."

After the World Cup, Zanetti has hinted he could be ready to return to Argentina, amid rumours Boca Juniors want to sign him from Inter.

He added: "I have heard in the last days that Boca seems to be interested in me and, to tell the truth, that would be a very nice personal challenge for me because I never had the chance to play for any of the giant teams of Argentina.

"It's something that I owe to myself."
