Internazionale midfielder Dejan Stankovic has been hit with a two-match ban after being found guilty of striking Cagliari player Nelson Abejion.

The incident took place in the 36th minute of the sides' clash on Sunday after Stankovic reacted to a foul from Abejion.

The referee failed to see the incident which allowed the sporting judge to act on the basis of television footage.

Nerazzurri president Giacinto Facchetti admitted that the Serie A giants may appeal on behalf of Stankovic after complaining of an agenda aimed at defaming Roberto Mancini's side

"I've just got the news," said Facchetti. "There was a blow but of the big teams Inter are the only ones who suffer because of television footage and it isn't the first time this year.

"Now our lawyers will evaluate whether or not we should appeal against the decision."

Meanwhile, Inter president Massimo Moratti has revealed his disappointment at the club's inability to compete for the top honours at home and abroad.

"As time passes maybe you perceive a decision to have been a wrong one but when you make a decision you are obliged to stand by it," intimated Moratti to Telenova.

Despite his musings Moratti insists he believes the decision to buy Inter to have been a correct one but admits that others at the club may not concur.

"I don't regret it because it is an adventure and it's pleasure to have this much responsibility," added Moratti.

"But it is true that our results sometimes haven't been the best and so I don't know if this pleasure exists for the other people involved.

"I don't know if the others are pleased I took the decision to buy Inter."
