Inter chief Massimo Moratti insists they do not want to sign Antonio Cassano.Internazionale chief Massimo Moratti has insisted that they do not want to sign Roma's Antonio Cassano in January.
Cassano's future at Roma has been growing more uncertain by the day and it is believed that he could now depart Stadio Olimpico.
However, Moratti says that the Inter officials are not even thinking about signing Cassano as there would not be a space for him in their squad.
"The player isn't under discussion," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We already have really great forwards who, in the period in which Obafemi Martins will be engaged with the African Cup of Nations, will have the time to express themselves each Sunday.
"I think this is an award that (Alvaro) Recoba and (Julio) Cruz deserve. For this reason in our strategies there can't be a place for Cassano."
Moratti did admit that Inter have been taking a look at Lecce youngster Mirko Vucinic, but insisted that they would only look to sign him in the summer if they lost one of their own strikers.
"As for qualities, Vucinic is one of the most interesting young players and so it's a signing we can talk about in the summer. But it depends if we lose a forward."
Recent speculation has suggested that goalkeeper Francesco Toldo might leave the Nerazzurri to join city rivals Milan, although the Rossoneri have reconfirmed their absolute faith in both Dida and Zeljko Kalac.
"Milan? No, we have never made contact with them," insisted Moratti.
"We will give him the proposal to renew his contract, then he will choose.
"There is a double aspect to solve - the economical and the technical one. We need to have two strong keepers.
"But I don't know if Toldo will accept the current situation that sees Julio Cesar before him."
