Juventus' perfect start to the season ground to an abrupt holt at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as they went down to a 3-1 defeat against Milan.

The Old Lady had previously won all nine of their Serie A matches but Milan now move within two points of their adversaries from Turin.

Milan were dominant from the kick-off and their reward for some powerful midfield performances was an opening goal on 14 minutes.

Clarence Seedorf picked up possession on the edge of Juve's box and his shot dipped over the head of Antonio Chimenti courtesy of a deflection off Lilian Thuram.

Brazilian playmaker Kaka (pictured) doubled their advantage on 27 minutes with an exquisite volley from the penalty spot, before on the stroke of half time a terrible blunder from veteran Chimenti saw Andrea Pirlo's free-kick slip beneath his body.

In the second period Juve briefly rallied and pulled one back through David Trezeguet but Milan had more than enough to hold on for a vital and much deserved three points.

In Serie A's other clash, Sampdoria and Internazionale had to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw in Genoa.

Aimo Diano gave Samp the lead in just the seventh minute, only for Argentine schemer Esteban Cambiasso to restore parity in the 31st minute.

Samp regained the lead when Diano doubled his personal tally before Ivan Cordoba ensured the points would be shared as he levelled with just five minutes left to the break.
