Chievo unveil keeper

Chievo Verona have completed the signing of Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar.

Chievo Verona have completed the signing of Brazilian international keeper Julio Cesar.

The 24-year-old has arrived on a free transfer after his contract with Flamengo expired, and will compete with veteran Luca Marchegiani for the number one spot.

The custodian has impressed in his native Brazil and was a member of the Copa America squad that beat rivals Argentina this year.

The deal with the Flying Donkeys may not be straightforward, as the player had been linked with a move to Internazionale.

Now reports are suggesting that Chievo are keeping the player for Roberto Mancini's side, who will look to sign the player in the summer when they have a non-EU spot available.

However Julio Cesar himself is just delighted to have made the jump to European football, and is focused on claiming a starting role with the Serie A outfit.

"I'm happy to have arrived in Italy, it is a dream come true and for this I thank Chievo," said Cesar.

"At the moment I have only one certainty; I want to do my best for my new team, wearing this jersey will be an honour for me."
