Gianfranco Zola was the matchwinner for Cagliari as they overcame Lazio in the first leg of their third round Coppa Italia tie.

Zola scored the second as the Sardinian side beat Lazio 2-1 to take a narrow advantage into the return leg.

Antonio Langella had grabbed the opener ten minutes before the break, after breaking down the flank.

Lazio levelled through Antonio Filippini on the hour mark, but when Cagliari were awarded a penalty ten minutes before the end, substitute Zola stepped up to seal the win.

Internazionale came from behind to put themselves in the driving seat against Bologna - picking up a 3-1 win.

Claudio Bellucci opened the scoring for Bologna, but Christian Vieri levelled for Inter, before goals from Alvaro Recoba and Julio Cruz put the Milan side in the driving seat.
