Zanetti out of Olympic bid

Internazionale captain Javier Zanetti has pulled out of the Argentina squad for this year's Olympic Games, as he wants to concentrate on his club football.

The 30-year-old is currently on international duty in the Copa America, but will not be turning out for Argentina in Athens later this year.

Zanetti had been called up to play in Greece and represent his country, however he is looking forward to donning the Nerazzurri shirt in Serie A.

"I'm looking forward to coming back to Italy and to coming onto the pitch in the Nerazzurri jersey," Zanetti told the club's official website.

"I want to be at Inter as soon as possible at coach Roberto Mancini's disposal and for this reason I won't go to Athens with Argentina."

Zanetti's decision to remain with Inter is a boost as the Olympics would have ruled him out of a number of UEFA Champions League preliminary matches.
