Ventola returns to uncertain future

INTERNAZIONALE forward Nicola Ventola made his long awaited return to first team action in a friendly against Fiorentina.

After battling back from knee surgery it was the first outing for the Italian front-man in a game which his side won 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Marco Materazzi.

Although Ventola is now looking forward to playing next season, it is unsure whether he will remain at the San Siro.

"I'm happy," he said. "Finally I can say I have come back to play football.

"Now it starts the long preparation in view of next season. It's clear we would have to take decisions in mine and Inter's interest," said Ventola.

It is expected Ventola will discuss his future with the Inter management team with rumours suggesting he may be offered to clubs in a part exchange deal..

The forward though was unmoved on the speculation, saying: "The most important thing is that I came back playing and showed to still be able to play at a high level."
